It’s ideal for pool parties, backyard BBQs, or whenever the heat calls for something cool and refreshing. Simple ingredients, bold flavor, and totally summer-vibe approved.
Ingredients
4 cups seedless watermelon chunks, frozen
2–3 tablespoons granulated sugar (optional, depending on the sweetness of your melon)
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
½ cup vodka (plain, or flavored like lime or watermelon)
Watermelon wedges, for garnish
Fresh mint leaves, for garnish
Instructions
Freeze the Watermelon
Cut fresh, seedless watermelon into cubes and lay them out on a baking sheet. Freeze in a single layer for at least 4 hours or overnight until completely solid.Blend into Ice
Add the frozen watermelon chunks to a high-speed blender or food processor. Pulse in short bursts until the texture is light and fluffy, like shaved ice or soft granita.Add Vodka and Lime
Pour in the lime juice and vodka. Give it 1–2 quick pulses to mix everything together. Taste and add sugar if needed, pulsing again briefly to blend.
Serve Immediately
Scoop the shaved ice into chilled glasses or bowls. Garnish with mini watermelon wedges and fresh mint for that summery pop of color and flavor. Serve right away!
Notes
Choose a sweet, ripe watermelon for the best natural flavor—less need for added sugar.
If your blender struggles, work in batches or let the watermelon sit for 2–3 minutes to slightly soften before blending.
This is best enjoyed immediately, but you can freeze the blended watermelon (before adding alcohol) and re-blend it later. Add vodka just before serving to keep the texture icy.
Want to skip the booze? Swap vodka with sparkling water or extra lime juice for a mocktail-friendly version.
Flavored vodka (like watermelon or citrus) adds even more fruit-forward fun!
