Cinco de Drinko Shot: A Colorful Layered Party Shot That Brings the Fiesta

  • Author: Ethan

Description

A vibrant and layered Cinco de Drinko Shot made with strawberry, coconut, pineapple, and melon liqueur. This colorful shooter is a tropical crowd-pleaser perfect for Cinco de Mayo, summer parties, or any celebration where presentation and flavor matter! Easy to layer with simple bar tools and fun to customize. Make a batch, and get ready for the “oohs” and “aahs”!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 oz grenadine

  • 1/2 oz strawberry syrup (or 2 muddled strawberries)

  • 1/2 oz white rum

  • 1/2 oz coconut rum (Malibu or similar)

  • 1 oz pineapple juice

  • 1 oz Midori (melon liqueur)

  • Optional: splash of lemon-lime soda or sour mix

  • Ice

  • Garnish: 1 fresh strawberry + 1 pineapple chunk (for cocktail pick)

Instructions

  • Make the Red Layer (Bottom):
In a small glass, combine grenadine and strawberry syrup. If using fresh strawberries, muddle them well with the grenadine. Pour into the bottom of a tall shot or mini parfait glass.

  • Shake the White Layer (Middle):
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the white rum, coconut rum, and pineapple juice. Shake well until chilled. Slowly pour over the red layer using the back of a bar spoon to help the layers stay clean.

  • Pour the Green Layer (Top):
Gently pour Midori over the white layer using the same spoon layering technique. For extra brightness, you can mix Midori with a splash of soda or sour mix first.

  • Garnish and Serve:
Skewer a fresh strawberry and pineapple chunk on a cocktail pick and place on top or across the rim of the glass. Serve immediately!

Notes

  • Chill all ingredients before assembling to help the layers stay distinct.

  • Always pour slowly over the back of a spoon for clean, separated layers.

  • Want a full-size cocktail instead? Just double or triple the quantities and build in a tall glass.

  • No strawberry syrup? Use cherry juice, raspberry syrup, or muddled berries with simple syrup.

  • Midori alternatives: green apple schnapps or a DIY melon-flavored syrup with a splash of vodka.

  • This shot is all about color and fun—don’t stress if your first try doesn’t layer perfectly. It’ll still taste incredible!
