Deep Hamburger Sausage & Pepperoni Pie

  • Author: Sam

Description

Deep hamburger sausage & pepperoni pie is your new go-to for a hearty, cheesy, flavor-packed dinner. Built like a deep-dish pizza with a buttery pie crust, this comfort food classic layers savory ground beef, spicy Italian sausage, gooey mozzarella, zesty pizza sauce, and crispy pepperoni. It’s easy to prep, totally satisfying, and perfect for feeding a hungry crowd. One bite, and you’ll be hooked!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

  • ½ pound ground beef

  • ½ pound Italian sausage, casings removed

  • 2025 slices pepperoni

  • 1 cup pizza sauce

  • 1 deep-dish pie crust (store-bought or homemade, unbaked)

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Optional Add-Ins:

  • 1 clove minced garlic (for extra flavor)

  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (for a little heat)

  • Grated Parmesan cheese (for finishing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and Italian sausage together. Break up the meat and cook until browned and no longer pink, about 6–8 minutes. Drain off excess fat. Stir in Italian seasoning, and add garlic or red pepper flakes if using.

  3. Place the deep-dish pie crust into a 9–10″ pie pan.

  4. Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella cheese into the bottom of the crust.

  5. Evenly spoon the cooked meat mixture over the cheese layer.

  6. Spread pizza sauce over the meat, making sure to cover evenly.

  7. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese on top.

  8. Layer pepperoni slices across the top in an even, overlapping pattern.

  9. Place the pie pan on a baking sheet (to catch any drips) and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden brown.

  10. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

  11. Optional: Garnish with grated Parmesan and extra Italian seasoning.

Notes

  • Blind bake your crust for 5–7 minutes if you want to avoid a soggy bottom, especially when using homemade dough.

  • Want to add veggies? Sautéed mushrooms, onions, or bell peppers make great additions.

  • Don’t skip the rest time before slicing—it helps the pie hold its shape and makes serving easier.

  • This pie makes excellent leftovers. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days, or freeze individual slices for up to 2 months.

  • Reheat in the oven at 350°F to keep that crispy crust texture.
