Frozen Sunrise Margarita Recipe

  • Author: Sam

Description

Frozen Sunrise Margarita recipe bursting with citrus, tequila, and a splash of grenadine for that signature layered sunset look. Icy, sweet-tart, and perfect for poolside hangs or casual summer nights. Quick to blend, stunning to serve—this is your ultimate warm-weather cocktail. Make one and sip the sunshine!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz tequila (blanco recommended)

  • 1 oz orange liqueur (Triple Sec or Cointreau)

  • 1 oz fresh lime juice (about 1 large lime)

  • 1 oz simple syrup or agave syrup

  • 1 cup ice (preferably crushed)

  • ½ oz grenadine

Optional Garnish:

  • Lime wedge

  • Orange slice

  • Chili salt for glass rim

Instructions

  • Rim your glass: Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a margarita or coupe glass, then dip it into chili salt or regular salt. Set aside.

  • Blend the base: In a blender, combine tequila, orange liqueur, fresh lime juice, simple/agave syrup, and ice. Blend until smooth and slushy.

  • Pour and layer: Pour the blended margarita mixture into your prepared glass. Slowly pour the grenadine down the inside edge or into the center—let it sink to create that gorgeous “sunrise” effect.

  • Garnish and serve: Add a lime wedge and orange slice on the rim. Serve immediately with a straw or spoon. Sip and enjoy the sunset in a glass!

Notes

  • Spicy twist: Add a thin slice of fresh jalapeño to the blender before blending for a little heat!

  • Make it non-alcoholic: Sub tequila with orange juice and skip the liqueur—use citrus sparkling water for fizz.

  • Pitcher-friendly: Multiply ingredients and blend in batches for party-sized servings. Add grenadine per glass for best visual effect.

  • Chill the glass: A few minutes in the freezer keeps your margarita colder longer.

  • Use fresh lime juice: It truly makes a difference in flavor—brighter, fresher, and way more delicious.
