Ingredients
-
1 fresh lime, cut into wedges (for garnish and rimming)
-
1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
-
1 oz orange liqueur (like Cointreau or Triple Sec)
-
1 oz tonic water (must contain quinine to glow)
-
Salt (for rimming the glass)
-
Ice cubes
-
Optional: 0.5 oz simple syrup or agave nectar (for a sweeter version)
-
Optional: Glow-in-the-dark tonic water or blacklight for enhanced neon effect
Instructions
-
Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your margarita or rocks glass. Dip the rim into salt and set aside.
-
In a cocktail shaker, combine the lime juice, orange liqueur, tonic water, and a handful of ice.
-
Shake well for about 15 seconds, until the shaker feels cold to the touch.
-
Fill your prepared glass with fresh ice and strain the mixture over the top.
-
If using a blacklight, turn it on and watch the drink glow thanks to the quinine in the tonic water.
-
Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately.
Notes
-
For stronger glow: Choose tonic water brands with higher quinine content and serve in a dark space with blacklight.
-
Sweeter version: Add simple syrup or agave to taste.
-
Make it spicy: Muddle a jalapeño slice in the shaker for a spicy glow-up.
-
Batch it: For parties, multiply ingredients and prep a pitcher in advance—just add tonic right before serving to keep the fizz and glow.
