Hawaiian Lava Flow Cocktail Recipe – A Tropical Delight You’ll Crave!

  • Author: Ethan

Description

This Hawaiian Lava Flow Cocktail is a tropical showstopper! Blending sweet strawberries, creamy coconut, pineapple juice, banana, and two kinds of rum, this vibrant drink delivers beachy vacation vibes in every sip. The signature lava swirl is as stunning as it is delicious! Perfect for summer parties or when you’re craving a getaway in a glass.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 oz white rum

  • 1 oz Malibu rum (or other coconut rum)

  • 2 oz pineapple juice

  • 2 oz coconut cream

  • 2 oz strawberries (fresh or frozen)

  • 1 ripe banana

  • 1 cup ice (adjust as needed for texture)

  • Optional: whipped cream (for topping)

  • Optional: toasted coconut flakes (for garnish)

  • Garnish ideas: pineapple wedge, strawberry, cocktail umbrella

Instructions

  • Make the strawberry base: In a blender, combine strawberries with a splash (about 1 tbsp) of the pineapple juice. Blend until smooth. Pour into the bottom of your serving glass to create the “lava” layer.

  • Blend the tropical mix: Rinse the blender. Add the banana, white rum, Malibu rum, remaining pineapple juice, coconut cream, and ice. Blend until smooth and creamy.

  • Assemble the cocktail: Slowly pour the tropical mixture into the glass over the strawberry purée. Watch as the red swirls rise—this is your lava flow!

  • Garnish: Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of toasted coconut. Add a wedge of pineapple or strawberry for extra tropical flair. Serve with a straw and enjoy immediately!

Notes

  • Want a mocktail version? Skip the rum and sub in extra pineapple juice or coconut water!

  • Frozen fruit works great here—it gives the drink that thick, slushy texture and keeps everything cool.

  • Chill your glasses ahead of time for a super refreshing finish and better swirl effect.

  • Use cream of coconut instead of coconut cream for a sweeter version—but adjust other sweet elements to taste.

  • Leftover mix? Freeze it in popsicle molds for a tropical frozen treat!
