Ingredients
-
5 cl (1.7 oz) Malibu Coconut Rum
-
2 cl (0.7 oz) Grenadine syrup
-
10–12 cl (3.5–4 oz) Fresh orange juice
-
Crushed ice (enough to fill a tall glass)
-
Optional garnish: orange slice, maraschino cherry, raspberries, or cocktail umbrella
Instructions
-
Fill a tall glass (like a highball or hurricane glass) to the top with crushed ice.
-
Pour in the Malibu Coconut Rum.
-
Top with orange juice, leaving about 1–2 cm of space at the top.
-
Slowly pour the grenadine over the back of a spoon or down the inside of the glass to create the layered “sunset” effect.
-
Garnish with an orange slice, cherry, or raspberries—and add a cocktail umbrella if you’re feeling festive.
-
Serve immediately without stirring to preserve the layers. Enjoy!
Notes
-
Want it sweeter? Add a splash of pineapple juice with the orange juice.
-
No crushed ice? Regular cubes work too, though crushed looks best for layering.
-
Make it alcohol-free by swapping the rum with coconut water, soda, or coconut syrup.
-
For parties, batch the rum and juice ahead, and layer grenadine per glass before serving.
-
Use fresh orange juice for the best flavor—store-bought works in a pinch, but fresh is next-level.
