Midnight Love Colada: A Swirled Tropical Cocktail with a Midnight Twist

  • Author: Sam

Description

The Midnight Love Colada cocktail is a creamy, tropical, and visually stunning drink swirled with layers of blueberry and coconut rum. It’s a total show-stopper with its marble effect and dreamy flavor combination—perfect for date nights, celebrations, or any time you need a sip of something magical. Try it once and it’ll become your new signature cocktail!

Ingredients

Scale

Purple Layer

  • 1 cup frozen blueberries

  • 2 oz white rum

  • 2 oz pineapple juice

  • 1 oz cream of coconut

  • ½ cup crushed ice

Blue Layer

  • 2 oz white rum

  • 1½ oz cream of coconut

  • 1 oz blue curaçao (optional, for deeper color)

  • ½ oz fresh lime juice

  • ½ cup ice

Garnishes (Optional)

  • Fresh blueberries

  • Pineapple wedge

  • Edible glitter

  • Sugared rim (lime juice + sugar)

Instructions

  1. Make the Purple Layer:
In a blender, combine frozen blueberries, white rum, pineapple juice, cream of coconut, and crushed ice. Blend until smooth and thick. Pour into a small pitcher or bowl and place in the freezer briefly while you prep the blue layer.

  2. Make the Blue Layer:
Rinse or wipe the blender. Add white rum, cream of coconut, blue curaçao (if using), lime juice, and ice. Blend until creamy and slushy.

  3. Assemble the Cocktail:
In a tall, clear glass (like a hurricane glass), alternate pouring purple and blue layers using a swirling motion. Use a long spoon or straw to gently twist once or twice for that marble effect.

  4. Garnish and Serve:
Top with fresh blueberries, a pineapple wedge, and edible glitter or sugared rim for extra flair. Serve immediately and enjoy the magic!

Notes

  • Mocktail Version: Omit the rum and blue curaçao. Replace with coconut water, pineapple juice, or a fruit tea for a non-alcoholic treat.

  • No blue curaçao? Use a drop of blue food coloring or skip it for a lighter blue tone.

  • Cream of coconut substitute: Full-fat coconut milk + a dash of sweetener works in a pinch.

  • Make-ahead tip: Blend each layer and freeze separately for up to 4 hours. Blend again briefly before serving for best texture.

  • Leftovers? Pour into popsicle molds and freeze for a delicious boozy pop.
