  • Author: Ethan

Description

A bold and velvety tropical cocktail made with dark rum, coconut milk, blackberry purée, and a touch of lime—this Midnight Mirage Colada recipe is your new go-to for serving drama in a glass! With its deep, mysterious color and creamy texture, it’s perfect for summer nights, beach-themed parties, or whenever you want to turn happy hour into something unforgettable.

Ingredients

Scale

For the cocktail:

  • 1.5 oz dark rum

  • 2 oz full-fat coconut milk

  • 1 oz vanilla syrup

  • 0.75 oz fresh lime juice

  • 1.5 oz blackberry purée

  • 1 pinch activated charcoal (optional, for color)

  • Crushed ice

For the garnish:

  • Fresh blackberries

  • Lime wedge

  • Mint sprig

Instructions

  • In a blender, combine dark rum, coconut milk, vanilla syrup, lime juice, blackberry purée, and activated charcoal if using.

  • Add a generous scoop (about 1.5 cups) of crushed ice.

  • Blend until smooth and slushy.

  • Pour into a chilled hurricane or stemmed glass.

  • Garnish with a skewer of blackberries, a lime wedge, and a mint sprig.

  • Serve immediately with a straw—and your most mysterious smile.

Notes

  • For a mocktail version, replace the rum with pineapple juice or coconut water.

  • Make your own vanilla syrup by combining 1:1 sugar and water with a splash of vanilla extract.

  • Frozen blackberries work great for the purée—just blend and strain.

  • Activated charcoal is optional but gives the drink its striking black-violet color. Be sure to use food-grade charcoal.

  • Prep the liquid base in advance (minus ice) and store in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Blend with ice just before serving.
