Mini Drunken Caramel Apples

Mini Drunken Caramel Apples Recipe: A Boozy Twist on a Classic Fall Favorite

  • Author: Sam

Description

Mini Drunken Caramel Apples are everything you love about the classic fall treat—but with a cheeky grown-up twist! These bite-sized apple pops are soaked in caramel vodka or whiskey (if you like!), dipped in gooey caramel, and rolled in all your favorite toppings. Perfect for parties, dessert boards, or fall festivities, they’re playful, customizable, and anything but boring!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 large green apples (Granny Smith recommended)

  • 1 (11 oz) bag caramel candies, unwrapped

  • 2 tbsp heavy cream

  • 12 oz caramel vodka or whiskey (optional)

  • Lollipop sticks or skewers

Toppings (choose your faves):

  • Chopped peanuts or pecans

  • Mini M&Ms

  • Rainbow sprinkles

  • Crushed Oreos or candy bars

  • Toasted coconut

  • Crushed pretzels

  • Mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples
Wash apples thoroughly and dry completely. Use a melon baller to scoop 1.5–2 inch apple balls. Pat each ball dry with paper towels. Insert a skewer or lollipop stick into each one and place on a parchment-lined tray.

  2. Optional Boozy Soak
Place apple balls in a shallow dish. Pour caramel vodka or whiskey over them. Cover and refrigerate for 30–60 minutes. Pat dry thoroughly afterward.

  3. Make the Caramel
In a small saucepan, melt caramel candies and heavy cream over low heat. Stir frequently until smooth and fully melted.

  4. Dip and Decorate
Dip each apple ball into the caramel, allowing the excess to drip off. Immediately roll or sprinkle with toppings of your choice. Set on parchment paper to cool.

  5. Chill and Serve
Refrigerate for 15–30 minutes, or until caramel is set. Serve chilled or let sit at room temperature for a few minutes before serving for best texture.

Notes

  • Dry is key! Make sure your apple balls are dry before dipping so the caramel sticks properly.

  • No booze? No problem! These taste amazing without the alcohol too—perfect for kids or family-friendly events.

  • Caramel too thick? Add a tiny splash of warm cream and stir until smooth again.

  • Get creative! Mix and match toppings for a fun and colorful dessert board.

  • Make ahead: These store well in the fridge for up to 3 days. Just let them sit out for 10–15 minutes before serving so the caramel softens slightly.
