Painkiller Cocktail Jello Shots: A Tropical Party Delight

  • Author: Ethan

Description

Painkiller Cocktail Jello Shots capture the tropical flavors of the classic cocktail in a fun, boozy bite. With smooth rum, sweet pineapple, zesty orange, and creamy coconut, these jello shots are a perfect party treat. A pinch of freshly grated nutmeg adds just the right amount of warmth to balance the flavors. Make a batch ahead of time, let them chill, and get ready to impress your guests with this playful twist on a beloved beachside drink!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ cups pineapple juice
  • 1½ cups orange juice
  • 2 packages (3 oz each) Island Pineapple Jell-O
  • 3 tablespoons cream of coconut (such as Coco López)
  • 1 cup Pusser’s rum (or your preferred dark or spiced rum)
  • A pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
  • Optional garnish: diced dried pineapple

Instructions

  • Boil the Pineapple Juice – In a saucepan, bring the pineapple juice to a gentle boil.
  • Dissolve the Gelatin – In a large mixing bowl, pour the boiling pineapple juice over the Island Pineapple Jell-O powder. Stir continuously for about 2 minutes, ensuring the gelatin fully dissolves.
  • Incorporate the Cream of Coconut – Whisk in the cream of coconut until completely blended, creating a smooth mixture.
  • Add the Remaining Ingredients – Stir in the orange juice, rum, and freshly grated nutmeg, mixing until well combined.
  • Pour into Shot Cups – Carefully pour the mixture into 2-ounce plastic or silicone shot cups, filling each half to three-quarters full.
  • Chill Until Firm – Arrange the cups on a baking tray and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until fully set.
  • Garnish & Serve – Just before serving, optionally top each jello shot with diced dried pineapple. Serve chilled and enjoy responsibly.

Notes

  • Use cream of coconut, not coconut milk – Cream of coconut is sweetened and creamy, making it essential for that classic Painkiller taste.
  • Freshly grated nutmeg makes a difference – If possible, use freshly grated nutmeg for the best aroma and flavor.
  • Chill for at least 4 hours – Overnight is even better for firmer jello shots.
  • For a stronger shot, slightly reduce the juice – But don’t add more than 1½ cups of rum, or they may not set properly.
  • Make a non-alcoholic version – Simply swap the rum for extra pineapple or orange juice for a fun, kid-friendly treat.
  • Store in the fridge for up to 3 days – Keep them covered to maintain freshness.

These jello shots bring a fun, tropical flair to any gathering. Whether you’re hosting a summer bash or just want a creative cocktail alternative, they’re guaranteed to be a crowd favorite!
