Ingredients
-
3 oz bourbon whiskey
-
4 large strawberries, hulled and chopped
-
2 oz fresh lemon juice (about 1 large lemon)
-
1 oz simple syrup (adjust to taste)
-
Ice
-
Optional garnish: lemon wheels and halved strawberries
Instructions
-
Muddle the strawberries in a cocktail shaker until they’re juicy and broken down.
-
Add the bourbon, lemon juice, and simple syrup, then fill the shaker with ice.
-
Shake well for about 15 seconds until the drink is nicely chilled.
-
Double strain into two lowball glasses filled with fresh ice (fine mesh strainer recommended for a smoother sip).
-
Garnish with a lemon wheel and half a strawberry, and serve immediately.
Notes
-
Use ripe, fresh strawberries for the best flavor and color. Frozen works too—just thaw first!
-
Adjust the sweetness to your taste by adding more or less simple syrup, depending on how sweet your berries are.
-
Want a mocktail version? Skip the bourbon and top with sparkling lemonade or soda water for a fizzy, fruity refresher.
-
For an extra chill, freeze your glasses before pouring. Makes a difference on hot days!
-
Make it in a batch by scaling up the ingredients, then shaking individual servings with ice.
