Watermelon Slushie Recipe – The Ultimate Summer Refresher

  • Author: Sam

Description

This watermelon slushie is the ultimate summer refresher! Made with frozen watermelon, fresh lime juice, and a touch of honey, it’s light, fruity, and hydrating. Serve it non-alcoholic or add a splash of vodka or rum for a breezy adult twist. Perfect for hot days, BBQs, or a quick cool-down. Anything but boring!!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups frozen watermelon cubes (seedless)

  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice

  • 1 to 2 tablespoons honey or simple syrup (adjust to taste)

  • 1/4 cup cold water, more as needed to blend

  • Optional: 1 to 2 ounces vodka or rum

  • Optional: a few ice cubes (for thicker consistency)

  • Garnish: watermelon wedges and fresh mint

Instructions

  • Freeze the Watermelon:
Cut seedless watermelon into cubes and spread them out on a parchment-lined tray. Freeze for 4–6 hours, or overnight, until fully solid.

  • Blend:
Add frozen watermelon, lime juice, and 1 tablespoon of sweetener to a high-speed blender. Start blending and slowly add cold water until the mixture becomes smooth and slushie-like.

  • Adjust:
Taste and adjust the sweetness or tartness. Add more honey or lime if needed. For an adult version, blend in vodka or rum.

  • Serve:
Pour into chilled glasses, garnish with a watermelon wedge or mint sprig, and serve immediately while icy and thick.

Notes

  • Use a ripe, sweet watermelon for the best flavor—your slushie depends on it!

  • Sweeteners like agave or maple syrup can be substituted for honey.

  • Add fresh mint or basil for an herbal twist.

  • Prep ahead by freezing watermelon cubes in bulk so you’re always ready to blend.

  • Want it extra icy? Toss in a few ice cubes during blending.

  • Best enjoyed immediately, but leftover slushie can be frozen into cubes and re-blended later.
